ABOUT ME...
Rajab Butt is an animator and illustrator based in Queens, New York. Rajab graduated from Queens College in 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art. During his time in college, Rajab would become proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, frequently using programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After effects, and Premiere to make his designs and animations come to life. On his off time, Rajab creates stop motion short films to pursue a career as a professional animator.
Growing up, Rajab immersed himself in animation, and when he wasn’t watching cartoons, he was studying documentaries explaining how the animated films he loved took shape. Rajab’s inspiration comes from a variety of sources, such as the 2D work of Genndy Tarkakovsky, the stop motion marvels of Aardman Animation, the classics of Max Fleischer, and art history movements such as Dadaism and Italian futurism.
In an age of AI and algorithms taking over the mainstream, Rajab attempts to create work that breaks the mould by embracing experimentation, the surreal, and ingenuity.
